Plated jewelry should be cleaned periodically. Even if you’re sure your jewelry hasn’t been exposed to any of the aforementioned substances, it’s been in contact with your skin.
Clean your plated jewelry with a cotton ball or a very soft cloth to remove any dust and dirt it has acquired. Gently rubbing the surface of your gold plated jewelry using a soft jewelry cloth also helps restore shine. If your jewelry needs more cleaning you may clean it with warm, soapy water. Perfumes, creams, lotions, and makeup all contain substances than can affect plated jewelry. Be careful, some soaps and detergents can also speed up the tarnishing process. NO SALT WATER
